New Hanover Health Advantage Medicare Advantage Plan Termination Details

Beginning January 1, 2026, New Hanover Health Advantage will no longer offer Medicare Advantage coverage. New Hanover Health Advantage will accept Medicare Advantage enrollments through the remainder of 2025, but coverage will end on December 31, 2025. 

This does not impact current coverage. As long as members continue to pay monthly premiums, coverage will continue through December 31, 2025.  

To have coverage beginning January 1, 2026, New Hanover Health Advantage encourages members to enroll in a plan during the Medicare Advantage Annual Enrollment Period for 2026. This period runs from October 15 – December 7, 2025, for an effective date of January 1, 2026. 

We know that maintaining access to trusted providers is critical for our members. When considering new coverage, think about the providers you see, the medications you take and the services you rely on. The following resources may be helpful as you compare options, confirm provider access and choose a new Medicare Advantage plan for 2026.  


  • Medicare.gov – Allows you to compare plans in your area based on your prescriptions and provider preferences. Visit medicare.gov or call (800) MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), TTY: 1-877-486-2048. 
  • Medicare & You Handbook – Mailed to all Medicare enrollees each fall. It includes a full list of local plans and contact information. View online at medicare.gov/Pubs/pdf/10050-Medicare-and-You.pdf.  
  • SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program) – Offers free, unbiased help from trained counselors in your community. Find your local office at ShipHelp.org.  
  • Your local agent – Many members have a trusted relationship with a local health insurance agent who's educated on plan offerings in your area. 
  • To confirm whether a specific provider accepts a Medicare Advantage plan, visit the provider’s website or call their patient services team.
